Samsung Announces 2014 Ultra HDTV Pricing and Availability
Samsung has officially announced availability and pricing for their 2014 Ultra HDTV lineup at a press conference held at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The company will offer something for everyone, including both curved and flat versions of their Ultra HDTV’s and Full HDTV’s in a variety of screen sizes. The TV’s will start shipping in the United States and Europe at the end of this month through various retailers, with Amazon currently taking pre-orders for an April 6th ship date.

The company is a strong believer in the curved form factor, stating that it is more immersive, and reduces visual shifts in contrast and color at the outer edges of the screen. Further supporting their faith in Ultra HD, they have partnered with several Ultra HD content providers like 20th Century Fox, to bring 4K to your living room. Netflix will begin streaming Ultra HD in April, followed by Amazon, M-Go, Comcast and DirecTV later in the year (for the US). Furthermore, Samsung will offer a $299 UHD Video Pack hard drive, containing a number of pre-loaded 4K Ultra HD movies like Night at the Museum, The Counselor, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and World War Z. Even we at Ultra HDTV Magazine offer a variety of glorious Ultra HD content which is available for licensing.

The various new product series can become confusing, so we’ll break it down to make things easier:
Samsung Ultra HDTV’s
Samsung will offer four new Ultra HDTV Series in 2014, three of which will begin shipping at the end of this month. To refresh your memory, an Ultra HD television features a 3840×2160 resolution, which contains four times the number of pixels of mainstream Full HDTV’s.
The Ultra HDTV’s offered by Samsung will include support for HEVC, HDMI 2.0, MHL 3.0 and HDCP 2.2 — along with “Evolution Kit” support, which effectively future-proofs your TV by allowing a new hardware module to be installed once new technologies become available, protecting your investment from quickly becoming obsolete.
