Japan Leading the Way for Ultra HD

Twenty-one Japanese telecommunications companies, consumer electronics corporations, and broadcasters have come together to create a partnership. They intend to lead Japan, and the rest of the world, to the adoption of Ultra High Definition transmissions.

The group includes NHK, SkyPerfect JSAT, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Fujitsu, NEC, KDDI, and others. The goal is to accelerate Ultra High Definition into Japan, and hoping that the rest of the world will follow suit. The group is being funded by Japan’s Internal Affairs Ministry which has allotted  €24m.
