LG accepts pre-orders for 84-inch 4K UHDTV’s

Ultra High Definition TV just took one step closer to becoming a reality. On August 1st, LG will begin to take pre-orders on its 84-inch 4K UHDTV sets (3,840 x 2,160), which they intend to ship at the end of the month. These are not the 8K sets as displayed by Panasonic and Sharp, but this 4K set technically meets the UHDTV requirement. The LG 4K UHDTV (Model: 84LM9600) set will sport a new 3D speaker setup, and will also come with camcorders and 3D glasses to those who preorder. For those lucky enough to live in South Korea, the set will cost about $22,000 USD. Only 84 of them will be manufactured for now. LG has stated that they intend to sell UHDTV technology in other parts of the world later this year.
